　1979年、英国人アラン・フリーマン氏が３輪のソーラーカーを製作した。また翌1980年には公道を走行するための登録を行った。前２輪、後１輪の一人乗り小型の三輪カートに畳一畳大のソーラーパネルを屋根代わりに取り付けた形状であった。*6a)*6b)

web上で見ることができる画像は、丸っこいボディの三輪車であり「Alan Freeman's 1979 Solar Powered Car」との説明が付されているが *6a)、1979年当時のPopular Mechanics誌やPopular Science誌 に掲載された写真 *6i)*6g)*6f)ではやや角張ったボディになっている。丸っこいボディのソーラーカーの最前部には「TRP585W」と文字が書かれている。これは英国の自動車登録ナンバープレートの書式である。

　従って、雑誌掲載のやや角張ったソーラーカーが1979年モデルで、webに掲載されている丸っこいボディのソーラーカーが1980年モデルと考えるべきであろう。
